OUR STORY

  • In 2019, the Dance Hall of Fame was conceived by legendary, award-winning director Louis J. Horvitz and renowned producer, director, and choreographer Anita Mann. In Ms. Mann, Mr. Horvitz found an ardent artistic partner equally committed to preserving the legacy of dancers, choreographers, dance-related film directors, dance teams, and other visionaries who have left an indelible mark on the industry. Together, these two trailblazing leaders assembled a collective of 15 distinguished individuals, each with substantial contributions to the art form of dance. Alongside Mr. Horvitz and Ms. Mann, they formed the founding board of the Dance Hall of Fame. Having recently lost one of our Board Members, Glorya Kaufman, the now 14-member board undertook the formidable task of nominating the inaugural class of inductees. Faced with an abundance of artists whose impact on dance and the entertainment industry is immeasurable, the board approached the selection process with reverence and care. This December, we celebrate the inaugural Dance Hall of Fame inductees: 10 extraordinary artists whose lifetime achievements have elevated dance, transformed entertainment, and inspired generations. The ceremony will be held December 3rd at The Glorya Kaufman Performing Arts Center in honor of Glorya.
